💫International Women’s Day💫El Salvador, 2025. Working to End Gender-Based Violence

Last night, we could hardly sleep. Today marks International Women’s Day 2025 here in El Salvador, and it is a significant day for Salvador's HOPE. We have so much happening in just a few short hours!

A couple of months ago, we made the bold decision to take action this International Women’s Day — to shine a light on the abuse that girls and women face, often within intimate relationships, making El Salvador one of the most dangerous countries in the world to be a woman.

Over the past four years of running our program, we’ve been dedicated to empowering women and girls through education.

The results have been incredible. As we shine a light on this topic, girls and women have found their voices and empowered many others in the process — often with young girls sharing the message with other young girls. Over the past few days, we’ve witnessed how our program here in El Salvador is gaining incredible momentum.

But today, we wanted to take our efforts a step further. We’ve decided to highlight the Cycle of Abuse that often characterises abusive, dangerous relationships and, hopefully, spark an important national conversation! đź’«

So today, on International Women’s Day, we’ve taken a bold step by publishing a feature ad in one of El Salvador’s largest newspapers, El Diario De Hoy, raising awareness of the Cycle of Abuse.

This morning, as soon as the sun rose, we made our way to the local market and picked up 50 of the 55,000 printed copies that hit newsstands across El Salvador today.

The headline on our page reads "Break the Cycle of Abuse" followed by "Past behaviour is a predictor of future behaviour."

Our ad is also being showcased on ElSalvador.com’s website and the newspaper's social media outlets— Instagram and Facebook which will help us reach 1.5 million people online!

The ad directs readers to a special page our website, where they can find information and resources to help break the cycle of abuse and connect them with crisis and support agencies here in El Salvador that help victims of abuse and violence.

Today is a HUGE day for us here. In just a couple of hours, we’ll be gathering with girls in Mejicanos for our biggest adolescent girls’ conference ever — Arise and Shine 2025!

Friends, join us as we raise awareness to ending gender-based violence in El Salvador.

Your donation today can help break the cycle of abuse and empower girls and women to rewrite their stories. Stand with us — every gift makes a difference.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us!
